My solutions
Russia has built a legacy of environmental tragedy over the last several decades. From air thick with pollutants to oil that oozes from its once fertile
soil to be washed into the rivers and into the Arctic
Ocean, the problems range far and wide. Unfortunately since it took decades to get in its current condition it would take equally as long for them to crawl back out.
** These are my opinions on potential ways Russia could improve their Environmental standing.
By modernizing their outdated water treatment plants and replacing the long neglected pipes, many of the drinking water issues could be solved.

If
one of the rivers is redirected back from the desert
irrigation project, both the irrigation project and the sea could receive
water. Once sea levels begin to return, water treatment can begin to restore
pollution levels.

First, the destroyed lands need to be prepared for planting, using environmentally safe fertilizers. This should be followed by planting a large variety of trees of the same species once grown there. Additionally these areas should be set up as restricted areas for wildlife preserves.

Improving emission regulations on all automobiles and implementing tougher regulations on factories, along with using a cleaner source for electricity would greatly reduce the harmful air.
As the new trees begin to grow more clean air will be produced. |
Russia needs to strengthen its oil spill regulations and require complete clean-up of all oil spills, regardless of their size or age. Heavy fines should be put in place for violators, and the funds used to help with environmental clean-up.
